Glass Series

Problem: Photograph three blown glass pieces by a local artist to showcase their craftsmanship using lighting to accentuate the design while avoiding pitfalls specific to photographing glass.

Solution: Created images with lighting conducive to glass and avoiding prop reflections in the glass to minimize any post-production edits. Used a combination of back lighting and other reflective materials to accentuate the properties of the glass.

Hardware/Software: Nikon D5100, Adobe Photoshop

Food Series

Problem: Photograph cuisine from two local restaurants to create enticing images for viewers using lighting, blocking, and prop techniques key to taking appetizing photos.

Solution: Created two different images of two different scenes highlighting the food with lights and blocking. Created backgrounds and depth of field to showcase the food.

Hardware/Software: Nikon D5100, Adobe Lightroom Classic

Complex Lighting Series

Problem: Photographed two different subjects using more complex lighting techniques, like back lighting and a scene with a dark background, that went with the mood of the subject and highlighted its beauty.

Solution: Created two images using separate techniques. One was created in a dark room with spotlights from above and below onto glass using water and glitter to add to the highlights. The other was a scene backlit with natural light.
